A COALITION FOR GAZA

2025

The origins

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) is an international solidarity movement born in 2010. It coordinates civilian-led humanitarian missions by sea to break the Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip.

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition was formed following Israel’s 2010 raid on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, which resulted in the deaths of nine activists on board in international waters. Since then, it has organized initiatives to raise global awareness of Gaza’s humanitarian needs and called for unrestricted maritime access for the delivery of essential aid.

The coalition also calls for an end to the Israeli occupation and for the international community to act to condemn Israel for its violations of human rights and international law.

The FFC’s attempts were:

  • Freedom Flotilla II (2011)
  • Freedom Flotilla III (2015)
  • Women’s Boat to Gaza (2016)
  • Just Future for Palestine Flotilla (2018)

In June 2025, with the worsening conditions of the population of Gaza following the blockade of food, medicines, medical personnel and basic necessities, the Freedom Flotilla reached its fifth intervention with a new fleet.

This time the story takes on unprecedented media relevance and there have been numerous television broadcasts, news reports and political discussions on the subject. Committees of supporters, funded from below, have been formed in almost every country in the world, particularly France, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, Albania, Ireland, the United States, Norway, Sweden, Cuba, Brazil, Italy and the Maghreb countries historically linked to the Gaza affair. There have been numerous moral support groups, sympathizer groups, activists, and fans in all countries around the world.

All shipments up to 2025 have been intercepted, attacked, or looted by zionist forces.

The Gaza Freedom Flotilla attempted to force the occupation-imposed blockade of the Strip to deliver infant formula, food, and medical kits during the genocide.

An article on Sameer Project’s Instagram profile reads:

The lead vessel was named “Madleen”, after Madleen Kulab, Gaza’s first and only professional fisherwoman.

The video of Madleen staring westward, awaiting the expedition to Gaza beach, went viral.

Through social media, the online public saw both the video messages released by the embarked activists and, on the other side of this surreal story, Madleen herself, under siege along with two million other people!
During the expedition, the silence of the United Nations was extremely heavy, proving to be a flash in the pan, a farce.

Children in Gaza have been designing the Madleen, the expedition’s lead boat, for weeks, carrying a dozen brave boys and girls from around the world. Among them: Tiago Ávila (Brazil), Greta Thunberg (Sweden),
Yasemin Acar (Germany), Yanis Mhamdi (France), and others.

The flotilla was stopped by the occupation navy, the activists and aid workers on board were illegally arrested and transported to a concentration camp.

They were lost for many days.

The aid never reached its destination.

Madleen and Family, after the Flotilla Expedition

The real Madleen, Gaza’s extraordinary female fishing captain, who achieved worldwide fame after the incident, continued to fight, after the general media hype died down, to provide for her family, like so many others in Gaza.

Madleen has made herself known throughout Gaza for her pioneering work at sea and among the fishing community.

In November 2025, her husband was injured and hospitalized.

During that time, the family took refuge in a small house shared with 40 other people, with no room for her husband once he was discharged.

The Sameer project later moved Madleen and her children to the Refaat Alareer camp, where her husband joined once he left the hospital

at the camp they received a new spacious tent, access to bathrooms and drinking water, shopping vouchers, a medical aid point, the opportunity to attend school for children and much more.

Help us support his family and work with a donation.
